Nice meeting you!
Milena Brown is a Colombian writer and artist whose work explores migration, memory, relationships, and the emotional landscapes that shape identity. Moving between autobiography, fiction, diary, and visual storytelling, her practice traces the quiet transformations of everyday life across languages, cities, and time.
Her first book as an adult, The Last Margaret Keane, was written during her first year living in Miami and draws from the diaries of that period to explore loneliness, reinvention, and the experience of migration. Originally published in Spanish, the book is now ready to be released in English.
Alongside this work, she created Early Writings, a chapbook series revisiting stories written during her childhood and adolescence, including My Husband Has Another Woman, written at age twelve, and Diatribe in Bed, written at eighteen. These texts reveal the early formation of themes that continue to appear throughout her work: migration, family, intimacy, and observation.
Years after the migration process described in The Last Margaret Keane, Brown created Letters from Miami, a monthly, hand-drawn zine born from a reconciliation with the city. Published in limited editions, each issue captures a different facet of Miami through illustration and personal narrative. From these drawings, she has also developed postcards, stickers, and printed objects.
She is currently working on her second book, Two Months to Live, a personal account of accompanying her mother through the final stage of her illness.
Through books, zines, and printed matter, Brown continues to build a literary and visual body of work rooted in intimacy, memory, and lived experience.
Alongside her literary work, she has spent more than two decades working in creative strategy and brand storytelling for luxury hospitality, art, and design. She holds an MBA and studied Literature at the University of Buenos Aires and La Salle University in Colombia.
