Issue 5 -The Power of Public Art
Issue 5 explores the murals, installations, and artists who turn the city's surfaces into something worth stopping for.
Inside: an interview with Colombian urban artist Morazul, whose work has been claiming streets across Latin America and Miami for twenty years; Ryan Wheelbarrow's Nothing is Sacred; Megan Roth's column Only Fins on diving Neptune Memorial Reef; I Knew I Was Lisa The Whole Time, a piece by Serci Cox; and a ZineMap feature with Tiana Traffas and Fanzine Puerto Rico.
Issue #4 - Public Transportation
Nobody talks about getting around Miami without telling a story. Issue #4 explores how people move through a city that was never quite designed for movement.
Also inside: Megan Roth's column No Crying in Shark Diving, Ryan Wheelbarrow's central spread I Am Here, a musical reflection on Hit the Road Jack, and Trains in Japan, a comic by Avery Hick in partnership with ZineMap.
Issue #3 - Birds
The peacocks cross the street without looking. The monk parakeets arrived from somewhere else and never left. The mockingbird will argue with its own reflection.
Issue #3 is about Miami's birds, the expected ones and the ones nobody warned you about, and the quiet case they make for paying more attention to what's already around you.
Issue #2 - Sailing
From the right angle, on the right evening, Biscayne Bay can make you forget every complicated thing about this city.
Issue #2 lives in that moment, the skyline at night, the water, the particular silence of being on a boat while Miami keeps moving without you.
An issue about stillness in a city that never stops.
Issue #1 - Dogma Grill
Every city has a place that is impossible to explain to someone who hasn't been there. In Miami, one of those places is a hot dog stand on US1.
Issue #1 starts there, at Dogma Grill, on Biscayne Boulevard, on a stretch of road that connects more of the city than most people realize.
A hand-drawn love letter to the unglamorous, necessary, irreplaceable corners of Miami.
Current Issue: Lost In Translation
Issue 6 | September, 2026
My goal was to talk about how the different languages present in Miami create a unique environment (rich in culture but also in misunderstandings). I see it all the time. Being bilingual, I can tell when someone comes across as rude in English to a Spanish speaker, or the other way around, without any intention of doing so. But language goes beyond words. It involves body language and facial expressions that are impossible to learn on Duolingo.
We share this city with people from all over the world and have the opportunity to learn about their cultures, their food, their customs. Such a wonderful and rare thing.
As has been happening with these collaborative issues, I let the magazine take its course and trusted the contributors to give it the life and direction it was meant to have. I am so incredibly pleased with the result.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
